Intercultural Business Communication, 15 HP

Introductory information for students admitted to Karlstad University.
It is important that you read all the information.

Before you begin your studies, you need to:

1. Create KauID
2. Register for your course

1. Create KauID

What is KauID? KauID is your digital identity at Karlstad University that allows you to log in to our digital services.

If you have studied at Kau before you do not have to create a new KauID, you can use the same KauID as last time.

2. Register for your course

You need to register on time, not to risk losing your place on the course.
Registration period: 2021-11-01 - 2021-11-09
Log in to My Kau using your KauID to register.

What is My Kau? My Kau is a personal digital service for students at Karlstad University.

It is important that you decline your admission offer if you do not wish to attend the course.

If you have been admitted late, and therefore can´t register on time, contact the administrator.

The course Intercultural Business Communication will provide you with intercultural knowledge and awareness in the world of business today. You will study how culture impacts organizational culture, communication, leadership, teams, gender and ethics. Furthermore, you will apply intercultural theory to actual business scenarios. 

Intercultural business communication begins on 9th of November at 10.15.

The Study guide and form of examinations will be published on Canvas (a week before the course begins). The majority of lectures are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is important that you publish a presentation of yourself in Canvas during the first course week, as we will form groups based on our presentation. Working in groups are part of the course learning outcomes.

Practical information


You will have your lectures on campus from 9th of November until 12th of December. You will also be able to participate in these lectures via zoom. From 13th of December to 14th of January 2022 your lectures will be only through zoom. Lectures set at a specific time will not be recorded.


Examinations will be executed online. This means that you don’t have to be on campus in order to do the required assignments.


Individual assignment 1: November 30

Individual assignment 2: December 22

Individual assignment 3: January 14 (2022)

Mandatory seminars

You will have four (4) mandatory seminars.

They are scheduled:

Seminar 1: November 18

Seminar 2: December 1

Seminar 3: December 16

Seminar 4: January 11 (2022)

If you miss any seminar 1 and/or 3, you will have a re-seminar on the January 13. Missing seminar 2 and/or 4, entails handing in a written assignment. More information will be given at the course start.
