What is KauID? KauID is your digital identity at Karlstad University that allows you to log in to our digital services.If you have studied at Kau before you do not have to create a new KauID, you can use the same KauID as last time.
2. Register for your course
You need to register on time, not to risk losing your place on the course.Registration period: 2024-01-08 - 2024-01-15
Log in to My Kau using your KauID to register.
What is My Kau? My Kau is a personal digital service for students at Karlstad University.
It is important that you decline your admission offer if you do not wish to attend the course.
If you have been admitted late, and therefore can´t register on time, contact the administrator.
The aim of Intercultural Communication is for you to gain a better understanding of how communication works in contexts of language and culture difference and to help you develop your intercultural competence. The course is taught on campus and at a distance via Canvas and Zoom between Tuesday 16 January and Friday 22 March and everything you need to know about how to proceed will be posted in Canvas from 8 January August onwards. There will be one home exam on Tuesday 13 February, and you will also be required to perform and submit a range of different tasks online for feedback and assessment as the course progresses. In order to get the most out of IKGA03 you should get hold of the following book by 16 January:
· Rings, G., & Rasinger S. M., 2023. The Cambridge Introduction to Intercultural Communication. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press
The following title is also required reading, but once registered you can access it electronically via the Karlstad University library.
· Piller, Ingrid 2017 [2nd edition]. Intercultural Communication: A Critical Introduction
You will also read a number of articles and reports on the topic of intercultural communication. Those will be available to download on Canvas.
