Log in to My Kau using your KauID to register.

What is My Kau? My Kau is a personal digital service for students at Karlstad University.

It is important that you decline your admission offer if you do not wish to attend the course.

If you have been admitted late, and therefore can´t register on time, contact the administrator.

This course provides you with hands-on research experience in a subfield of linguistics. You will become a member of an ongoing research project that is being carried out at the department. You will contribute to the actual project work at hand, and obtain an in-depth understanding of the research process as a whole as well as gain relevant research skills and experience in English linguistics. You will work in close collaboration with a researcher who is based in the department, and at times with their national and international collaborators. Tasks may include logistical project planning, reviewing of research literature, communicating with informants, and contributing to data collection, preparation, and analysis. The exact nature of tasks depends on the project contribution agreed on between you and the project leader, and participation in the course is conditional on such a contribution agreement being approved at the outset of the course.

There are no set sessions for this course, all meetings with the supervising researcher are scheduled individually, as required by the project work. If appropriate, a reading list is also set by the supervisor, taking the project needs into account.

If you have not done so yet, please make sure to get in touch with the course convenor Professor Andrea Schalley, andrea.schalley@kau.se, as soon as possible, so that project selection and supervision arrangements can be finalised.
